Comments: My mother is 76 years old and we think she has had AD for about 8years. I say we thank because we could'nt get her Dr. to run any tests on her until her mental state had deteriorated to a point were my father needed assistance with her care. Her Dr.'s excuse was that "there is nothing we can do for her if she has AD so why spend a lot of time and money doing tests". Anyway Im just looking for a sounding board and some good info. It seems from what i've read that she is in the 7th and final stage. please Email me if you have any info or comments on this stage. Thanks

Comments: My 56 yr. old husband is currently in an assisted living facility. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease at the age of 50. I took care of him at home until last August, when I became so exhausted I just could not go on. I have Rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue syndrome. I have been sick since I was 21 yrs old, and am now 48. I would like to speak with other people who are married and around our age, and dealing with this devastating disease. Thank you.........

Comments: I started at the article on Preparing to be a Caregiver. Very helpful! I went from there to the Table of Contents but was not able to access any of the entries there that I tried. It's a great Table of Contents...I just wish I could get to the articles. I was trying to clidk on the article names, but kept getting 404 ITEM NOT FOUND.

Comments: im a member of a generation thats often accused of not caring about our elders. i would just like to take this time to say that is completely untrue. we may be cynical, we may be negative... but we still love those that came before us.

i am currently dealing with the alzheimer's disease through my grandfather. seeing someone like my grandfather who was always kind of an "eternal energizer bunny" dealing with this disease is heartbreaking and earth shattering. i love my grandfather very very much, and i am very very proud of him. nothing ever stopped him... not even being a double amputee, imprisoned in a nazi pow camp... nothing ever stopped him. until this disease that is.

i refuse to accept the fact that this disease is "the end". i refuse to give up hope that it could get better to the point where he can once again live at home with my grandmother. my grandfather is still in there... and until this is no longer the case i will never give up hope.

i would just like to thank the webmasters of this site for hosting a ribbon campaign geared towards those suffering from alzheimers as well as those dealing with family members that have the disease. america, as well as the rest of the world needs to wakeup and realize this is a serious disease. its time to pay nursing home workers the wages they deserve, its time to provide our elders with the type of care that they deserve and need.

never forget those that made your life possible...
